Our Technology

Our Technology

The majority of our material technologies are developed in-house at ALDILA® Composites Division in Poway, California, our design and innovation labs in Toyohashi, Japan, or within the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group.

Expertise + Ingenuity

Over the years, we have pushed the limits of composite design and innovation, creating revolutionary technology breakthroughs that include:

  • DIALEAD® Pitch Fiber (Graphitic Carbon Fiber)

DIALEAD® Pitch Fiber (Graphitic Carbon Fiber) is known for its outstanding strength and energy transfer properties - which helps minimize unwanted shaft deformation throughout the golf swing. While more costly and difficult to manufacture, the pitch fiber we are using is much stronger than traditional carbon fiber. All prepreg used in our shafts is developed and produced by Mitsubishi Chemical, or our trusted partners, giving us precise control over every step of the process.

  • FlyDrive™ Technology

FlyDrive™ Technology, a new application which utilizes a Visco-Elastic Isolation Layer (VEIL) to improve the stability, feel and peripheral strength of thin-walled shafts with little added weight or thickness.
  • FOCUSED MASS TECHNOLOGY

A precise weighting feature for ultralightweight shafts that helps promote a better turn through the ball at impact for stronger, straighter/drawn ball flight, using the same tungsten-infused prepreg as in Impact Stabilization Zone.
  • Graphene Infused Resin

In its purest state, Graphene is 100% carbon - which is up to 300 times stronger than structural steel and 20 times stronger than carbon fiber. It’s processed into multi-layer nanoscopic platelets that are then added to different resin systems, strengthening the prepreg material used in shafts.

  • High Balance Point

By using innovative materials and creating slightly thicker walls toward the butt-end of the shaft we raised the balance point of the shaft which creates the potential for lighter swing weights, increased head-speed and distance.

  • Hyperbolic Flex Technology (HFT)

Hyperbolic Flex Technology has been designed to maximize hybrid/iron shaft performance and consistency by developing a frequency progression system throughout the long-mid-short irons. This innovative shaft frequency progression system is optimized by flex for a desired shot trajectory that is consistent in long irons all the way down to wedge.

  • IMPACT STABILIZATION ZONE

Impact Stabilization minimizes deflection and face rotation using a tungsten-infused prepreg to create a heavier zone just below a stiffer section of the tip. Heavier mass of ISZ also contributes to added ball speed.
  • Ion Plating

The Ion Plating process creates a sophisticated, premium finish that cannot be achieved just by applying paint. The shaft is put into a vacuum chamber where chrome or silver alloy ions are fused to the shaft. It’s a more costly, time consuming process but it creates a stunning finish that we think is worth the extra time.

  • MICRO MAMBA® TECHNOLOGY

MICRO MAMBA® TECHNOLOGY – Micro Multi-Axial Material Bias Angle (MAMBA®) Technology -50% lighter and 50% thinner than the original MAMBA® TECHNOLOGY-  places a high-tech, flat weave material on the shaft’s tip and mid sections exterior, where the most twisting occurs during the swing and at impact. MICRO-MAMBA® Technology improves torsional stability and spin control where it’s needed the most.

  • MR70

Specifically designed and developed by Mitsubishi Chemical for high-performance applications, MR70 is an innovative new carbon fiber material that is 20% stronger and has 10% the modulus than conventional materials.
  • Multi-Axial Material Bias Angle (MAMBA®) Technology

Multi-Axial Material Bias Angle (MAMBA®) Technology places a high-tech, flat weave material on the shaft’s lower half exterior, where the most twisting occurs during the swing and at impact. MAMBA® Technology improves torsional stability and spin control where it’s needed the most.

  • NexGen Micro Laminate Technology® (MLT)

ALDILA®’s NexGen Micro Laminate Technology® (MLT) utilizes ultra-thin layers of premium aerospace-grade materials. Shafts with MLT use up to twice as many prepreg plies as alternative shafts, producing a stable, solid laminate void of “dead zones”. This design revolution eliminates inconsistent shots caused by shaft variability, while enhancing feel.

  • Reverse Inter-Laminar Placement (R.I.P.) Technology

ALDILA®’s Reverse Inter-Laminar Placement (R.I.P.) Technology incorporates computer modeling and exclusive materials provided by Mitsubishi Chemical -- letting our engineers reimagine shaft design and performance to create a revolutionary shaft bearing optimum flex and torque characteristics while yielding incredible feel and shot control.

  • S-Core Technology

S-Core Technology uses an innovative, internal carbon fiber ribbing system to prevent unwanted shaft deformation during a golf swing. By maintaining shaft symmetry and stability throughout the swing, S-Core Technology delivers more accuracy and energy transfer.
