HJERTSTEDT WINS USING ALDILA X65 GRAPHITE SHAFTS IN HIS PING
IRONS AND HM 40 GRAPHITE SHAFT IN HIS 5-WOOD
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 2, 1999)
Gabriel Hjerstedt, earned his second career PGA TOUR win using
Aldila X65 graphite shafts in his PING irons, along with the
Aldila HM-40 graphite shaft in his 5-wood. His one-hole playoff
victory over Tommy Armour III at the Touchstone Energy Tucson
Open earned his largest single paycheck of $495,000.
Hjerstedt, who is a resident
of Helsingborg, Sweden posted a previous PGA win at the 1997
B.C. Open. In addition during the 1998 season, he had two
Top 10 finishes with a tie for 6th place at the Mercedes Championships
and a tie for 9th place at the Milwaukee Open.

first playoff hole was remarkable. His iron play and overall
